So we came up to Liberty this weekend for a weekend of baseball. Friday
night we went to the Royals - Cardinals game. We had a lot of fun. I got to harass Mar w
hen the Royals lead-off batter hit a home run, sure the Royals were still down 2 - 1, but I was sure good things were in store for the night after a lead-off homerun. As you can tell, we had fun with the rivalry. Well, to no surprise (not even my own) the Royals got smashed. The game was basically over in the third inning when the Cards hit a grand slam, and two solo homeruns in the same inning. It was pretty cool to see three home runs in an inning even though the Royals gave them up. The game was a lot of fun and everyone in the stands was having fun with the rivalry (the crowd was split about 50-50 Cards, Royals fans) until the 8th inning. There was a Cardinal fan in the row behind us, and apparently he was being obnoxious even though we didn't hear him, and there was a KC fan behind him that had enough of his mouth. All the sudden we heard the people yelling there was a fight going on! We turned and saw the KC fan on top of the Cards fan, pounding away on him. Even the Cards fan's girlfriend was tangled up beneath him. I scampered over a person to help break it up, but a few other men had the Royals fan held back so I can't take any credit. I did get there in time to hear the Royals fan tell the Cards fan that he was going to kill him a couple times. Well the KC fan was pulled off a
nd he started walking down to leave, and some middle-aged man followed him and called for the usher to call security on him so he would get in some kind of trouble. Needless to say this is what happens up in the cheap seats. Well the fight pretty much sucked the fun out of the last inning and a half, but we stuck around for the fireworks show after the game.

This morning we got to head out and watch Brody's baseball tourney. What a difference a year makes! He has made so much progress since last year. He plays third base this year and stops any ball hit in his direction, and he hits well too. Their first game was a heart-breaking loss. It was the bottom of the last inning and they were tied. There was one out, runners on first and second and Brody was up to bat. It drilled the ball, a line drive shot. After I heard the ball hit the bat, I knew the game was over, because he hit it GOOD! I guess luck was not on the boy's side because the ball was a line drive that went straight in the second baseman's glove! The kid didn't even move his hand! Of course the runner of first was right by the second baseman when he caught the ball, so he was tagged and we were heading into extra innings. The other team put up seven runs, and I guess our boys just ran out of gas because they couldn't match it and they lost the game. They had a second game in the after noon, but the boys just didn't have any baseball left in them, and they lost again. Brody played great both games despite of the two lost games. It was fun to see how good he has gotten over the last year.
