As everyone knows, we took the long trek out to Utah, a whole whopping 19 hours. It was long, but I did enjoy it. Our first two nights we spent at our good friends the Roundy's. (He went to Vet school out here and we were in the same ward. They are WONDERFUL!) There house was AMAZING! It was absolutely beautiful! They live in Tooele County just west of Salt Lake City. They built their house with a deck that runs the whole length of the house. They also piped the gas line to run to their grill. One of Aaron's favorite things, but the best was the fireplace. It was amazing, it was an interior, exterior fireplace. You can sit on the deck and keep your tootsies warm while enjoying the view of the mountains and the Great Salt Lake. The next day, the Roundy's drove us around Tooele County to get some pictures of things I needed for my Photography Class. We saw some really interesting things. Starting with Motor Home Man! This was very interesting! Last summer this man and his motor home had been stopping infront of various places and spending the night. In June he stopped infront of Ryan's vet clinic. As luck would have it, the transmition blew in the home that night and he has not moved since. He showers, washes his clothes and waters the grass and trees with the clinics hose outside. HOW INTERESTING! We hear he is crazy and will spontaneously start cussing and yelling at people. While we were there he had a lovely red hat with a matching red shirt. So funny!
Ryan then took us to this little community that use to be a mining community called Oker. It was soo interesting, it even had an old mining entrance. After than we went out to Saltaire. Close to that is the little abandoned building that people graffiti all over with this old burned out train car. We have no idea why it is there but it was really neat. We got some cool pictures there! We even saw some man trying to walk in the stagnant water that was right there, it's on the banks of the Great Salt Lake... GROSS!!!
That night we played Apples to Apples and Cranium. We laughed soo hard... it was so much fun! Neither of the couples were much into to games but we laughed and laughed that night.
The next morning we went skiing. UGH! We all know how the last adventure skiing was!! However, the day did start off better. (If you will notice I changed my background to Zebra Print, it is because of this story I am about to tell you!) When we get to Brighton I decided I better go to the bathroom before I get on the mountain. So, I stroll in to go pee (I am wearing the Zebra Ugg boots Jennifer gave to me). This is what I hear from the other stall...
Girl: HELLO?....... HELLO? What's your name?
Me: Not sure if they are talking to me, so I just ignore it. Who talks to random people in the bathroom anyway.
Girl: HELLO??? WHAT'S YOUR NAME????
Me: Still ignoring, trying not to laugh, thinking this is so weird!
Girl: HELLO??? ZEBRA BOOTS..... WHAT'S YOUR NAME? ZEBRA BOOTS?? WHAT'S YOUR NAME?
Me: Still trying not to laugh.... trying to hurry because this is getting stranger!
Girl: HELLO? ZEBRA BOOTS.... THEY'RE BLACK WITH WHITE STRIPES.... ZEBRA BOOTS.... WHAT'S YOUR NAME!?
So I quickly finish.. quickly wash my hands and come out of the bathroom laughing. Aaron is confused at why I am laughing coming out of the bathroom. As I am trying to tell him the story, this girl comes out of the bathroom looking around. I quickly shoo Aaron down the stairs so the girl does not see my boots and start talking to us! SO STRANGE!!! The girl appeared to be about 10.... she should know better than to talk to strangers in the bathroom!
After that my skiing experience just went downhill. Although I did take lessons, which was better I almost died on the mountain my last run. Long story short, dehydration and altitude sickness=Margie walking down the mountain and her ski instructor carrying her skis. Aaron and I had lunch, I slept in the car and he went for some more runs. Aaron's quick story...... Blue runs surrounded by Double Black Diamonds=very difficult run where he almost dies! Needless, to say I am done with skiing for awhile.
