Mar is making me take care of the post for our KC visit since she is tired of blogging (aka she does not have any assignments due).
We zipped up to KC two weekends ago to hang out with my family, no real reason for the trip, we just wanted to head up before I started school again. We got in Friday night and just hung out that night. Saturday was game day for all the kids. Mar went up to Jocie's game in Kearney that morning and I went to Kallie's game down in Liberty at the same time. I am not sure show won Jocie's game, or even if she scored any points. Mar did report that while she was sitting on the bench, that she was whispering to the girl next to her and then proceeded to stand up and yell, "Hey Marge!!!" and then waved at Mar. She might not be the most focused player on the team, but she is the most stylish, sporting her Mizzou Tiger scrunchies. Kallie had a decent game, but she always is super shy when I show up to watch her and doesn't preform up to her potential. She had no points, but that is no big deal since they don't keep score in her league. I did have to chase Peanut out on the floor and grab her before she got ran over. She also tried this move at Brody's game too.
After the girls' game we met up at Brody's game. Brody had a good game, playing good D and bringing the ball up and passing and setting picks. Nothing too eventful happened at his game, except the ref is apparently running for city council and tried to be all buddy-buddy with Michael to get his vote. Michael had to break the news to him that he lives in Liberty and not Kearney. The ref then started schmoozing other people for votes.
After a morning of ball games, we headed out to do a little shopping. Nothing was purchased, but it is always nice to hit up stores that we don't have down here. We went back to my parents, took a nap and then just hung out the rest of the night. If you can't tell yet, the entire weekend was pretty lowkey.
Sunday we went to church with Buff and the kids in Kearney since my mom's church doesn't start until one (yuck). Jocie declared that it was Leopard Print Sunday, so her and Buff were in matching leopard print. They decided that they would need to have Mar a leopard print skirt made so that she could participate in the next Leopard Print Sunday. While at Buff's, I set up their new computer that they got for Christmas. Sunday afternoon brought a sight to see. Somehow, I was voted manly enough to oversee the frying of a turkey! We got a turkey for Christmas from Mar's Uncle Mike, so we took it up to fry. We got the turkey fried without major incident. Plenty of oil did spill over when I dropped the turkey in, but no major fires followed. The turkey turned out fantastic, and after a nice dinner, we headed for home.
That sums up that weekend, and you heard how the following week went in the last post. I started school today, which means my hours have been reduced at work. This semester I am trying something that I have never attempted before. I am taking 18 hours! We will see how it turns out.
